I was recently consulted by someone, whom we shall refer to as Sally, wanting advice and insight into their career options. She had already decided that they wanted to leave their current job, but had no idea what other work she might be interested in. Sally felt that, if she didn't make a plan before leaving her job, she would end up doing the same work for another company. She wanted to know what she should do next. Her reading is below:
The use of a 5 card reading allows for analysis of the past and present, as well as insight into the future.
Card 1 - Past learning: Archangel Uriel. Healing emotions, release of anger and failure to forgive.
This one is particularly relevant to both her personality and her past work experiences. Sally holds onto a lot of anger from past jobs. She dared to branch out of her current industry once, but the experience was not a good one. Ever since then, she has been sure that she will be embarrassed or mistreated again. She has never forgiven her former boss for the way that she was fired and still holds resentment for many of her old co-workers.
Card 2 - Current learning: Vanessa. Making a decision, determining what will bring peace.
Although she is undecided about which industry she should transition to, Sally knows that she will be unhappy if she continues to do what she is doing. The fact that she has acknowledged this is extremely important, as it shows that she is ready to move forward. Going back would only bring frustration and discontent. It is time to investigate what will bring happiness and good for all involved.
Card 3 - Current actions: Mystique. Keeping moving forward!
Her decision to leave her current situation and find something new is a very good one. The time is right to forge ahead and find something truly fulfilling.
Card 4: How to best help others: Akasha. Spiritual teacher, counselling and helping others.
Sally should look into jobs that allow her to help other people. She would excel at guiding other people through difficult situations. Sally's past experiences have given her a wealth of knowledge to draw on and share with others.
Card 5: Life's purpose: Rosetta. Working with or helping young people.
This card pairs perfectly with the previous one. Further to the suggestion that Sally would be good at counselling others, this card narrows it down and puts the focus on young people. To find work that will be rewarding for Sally and beneficial to others, she should find a job that allows her to provide guidance and support to children. Some good options that I can suggest include being a guidance counsellor in a school, working for the Big Brothers and Sisters program, or provide telephone support through a kids' crisis call in centre.
